Stepwise Representation of a Comb > Art Work

<Sculpture of Comb>, which belongs to the category of traditional sculpture art, is the result of formative reflection on the comb, which is an everyday accessory for adorning the body and especially essential for women. The artist shows special interest in multiple variations by attaching the title 'Step-by-Step Representation of Comb' to the shaping of the comb, which looks like a totem of a primitive tribe.

In the introduction to the first solo exhibition, Kwan-mo Jeong, who was an advisor at the time of attending graduate school, said, “After idealizing the sense of form of the essential characteristics of the comb, I took it as a basic form of modeling and tried to find my own formative language by maximizing or transforming the basic form.” On the other hand, the aspect of materializing national relics is highly appreciated. In fact, the repetition rate of comb teeth and the shape that generates intense compositional beauty revealed in the comb molding were enough to stimulate the artist's work motivation. The artist writes in his work notebook, “Especially at sunset, when the day turns, I can’t forget how the shadows cast on each comb and how any language hidden in it took me to precise serenity.”
