‘Garden of Images’ and the Garden of Eden
‘Electronic Garden’ is a series that Young-churl Shim has been working on for a long time. The structure of the garden he shows this time is mainly composed of various primitive colors and images symbolizing the motif of 'Adam and Eve' in the form of flowers and tassels.
As usual, her work is imbued with intense primitiveness. The reflection of light, which is often used here, creates a three-dimensional scene by overlapping the images in a phantasmal form. As with the performances she usually shows, the series about vitality has a fantasy based on the energy of nature.
This exhibition is a series of mushroom-shaped 'Adam' and 'Eve' depicted through glass work. Glass powder and FRP are properly mixed and cast to form a prototype, and work on the shape of flowers is added with mixed media such as stainless steel, steel, and wire mesh. Here, it goes through the process of coloring with acrylics and oil colors.
In this series, which I have been immersed in for the past 2-3 years, the works that reflect the birth of life and the original natural form of the Garden of Eden produce a 'garden of images' and again, demonstrate the experimental work that shows intense primitiveness.
